This gold coin is actually a restrike. They are common in Germany and central Europe. (Not my coin) Are they easy to sell in the areas of Chicago and Toronto? Do they have high liquidity in USA and Canada? If any American or Canadian can tell, I would appreaciate it. Thank you.
I do not know what you mean by "high liquidity," but as someone living in Chicago, sure; there are plenty of places that buy gold. I assume they would not sell as well as .999 or pre-33 gold, but any coin shop should at least give you an offer.
With "high liquidity" I meant whether it is easy to sell. To paraphrase it: "Is it easy to sell in Chicago/Toronto?"
I would try Harlan Berk first and then get a second quote from Subak (pretty much next door) in Chicago. Both places are great. I have sold one coin at Harlan Berk and felt very good about the price given. I have only purchased at Subak and thought he was also very fair. I only go to either place with minimal cash so I am not too badly tempted to buy. A1 Coins is okay to buy from, but they purchase for quite a bit under melt (in my experience).
I tried selling mine 6 years ago but got no traction. Maybe with the gold run-up I might now get an offer. However, since they are restrikes and common, any offer will be gold weight driven, not a numismatic one.
