TY Is that 1909 of yours certified and if it is, what was the grade?

Ok, here are higher rez photos, taken with my big camera, the others were taken with my point and shoot. I wish I could get it graded professionally, but alas I have not, never had a coin done that way. I think orgionally when I got it a while back they told me it was like a 67 ? I can't rememer actually. but, unfortuinatly the 100k size limit doesn't do these new photos justice as I had to compress them in a higher compression ratio to get them under 100k to upload here. What do you guys think now?

Nice coins RLM. I think your photos need a bit more contrast though.

If a TPG did not give it a grade of MS-67, the only reason they would not is due to the nick on Lincoln's neck on the Obverse and what looks like a possible minor rim bump at about 5:00 o'clock on the Reverse! I don't think that they would ever grade it below a MS-66RD as it is definitely a beautiful coin!

An MS-66 goes for $200 to about $400. Were it mine, I would, but you will find lots of discussions here as to whether any coin should be certified. You will also find many comments about how you should not keep your coins in albums. Only you can really answer your question. For me, the protection factor and the fact that my heirs have no clue about this hobby make my decision easy.

    if a 66 is $200 - $400, what is a 65 red going for?

Look...I am not a betting man (except when I order food through drive thru), Lincolns will be HOT in 2009, which is the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln cent. With 4 proposed Lincoln designs hitting the streets...hopefully a new wave of collectors will want to jump into numismatics.

This first year Lincoln in MS65 Red grades and higher WILL BE in demand. I would advise to get this red beauty slabbed so that...all things being equal...it STAYS in that nice red condition!

You can, but I wouldn't bet on it getting a 67. Just putting it into the album will have marked the coin.
