I might have bit off more than I can chew but why not ‍♂️. I figured I would start a thread on my quest to complete my new Whitman Classic Lincoln Cents 1909-1995 album. From what I see the book is full of varieties and later proofs. Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

Getting a good jumpstart with a run of unopened Mint Set cents from 1968 - 1995.

I started my cent book as a teenager back in the Jurassic period. I wore out two Whitman books before I ever plugged all the holes. Those last few holes weren’t plugged till the early 2000’s. Those two Whitman books are filled with common worn specimens that took me three decades to accumulate. I’ll never brag on my cent collection here! These days I own fine catalogs of high quality dollars, halves and everything in between. But I love my cent books because of the long journey..... My advice is to take your time and enjoy that journey.

I like varieties in high grade, but that's just me. Pay what you are comfortable with. Take your time building this set. There is no need to rush it.

Leave it as is. After you gather a few hundred more you can revisit this one.

Keep as is especially in the old rattler holder. You can easily get a pretty raw example

Yes... Exactly correct. Nice 09’s are easy to come by. Those old holders aren’t.

I have a Whitman book 1941-1974 complete coming that I won on eBay for $40.06 shipped. I didn’t notice it had verities in it until after the auction ended. What are the chances the 1955 is a DD? I checked the sellers other items, they had no other coins or coin items for sale. Hard to tell from the pictures. I’m not getting my hopes up but wouldn’t that be an awesome deal? It is tracked for delivery tomorrow

The odds of the 55 being a DD are the same as Jennifer Aniston showing up at your house wanting to be your lifetime love and giving you 24 hour access to her wealth. The rest of your collection has a great start. Buy the keys and semi keys asap. Over the long run they will appreciate the quickest. Buy them in TPG plastic and leave them in the plastic. Only the 10 -20 most expensive coins will mater at sell time.
