Is this called feeder fingers? I don't have the coin with me right now but the obverse doesn't have any of these. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before.
It’s called a thumbprint. If a coin is touched by fingers that haven’t been washed it will leave a print. Over time this will appear on the metal of the coins surface. The print gets darker with age and becomes etched into coin.
Feeder finger marks usually show up as shiny/ reflective spots in field area on the surface of a coin. They show up best on uncirculated coins like these. https://www.error-ref.com/accidental-die-abrasion/
Interesting. Never thought something like that. I have seen it before but not this pronounced. Thank you for the reply.
