Good morning guys my cousin sent me a picture of this coin as you can see from the pic, That the one in question is half the size and thickness as the regular Lincoln penny. I am not familiar with this type of error it could be just from environmental damage. Warning viewer discretion is advised he is a mechanic and as you will see the hands and fingernails are scary. So you have been warned any thoughts or comments would be appreciated thank you. Dave
I'd be willing to bet it was soaked in an acidic solution. Ask him if the obverse and reverse look "cloudy". This is post mint damage and has no value
Yes sir Paddyman98 you're right if it had been my coin you would have had both sides. But he's an old geezer and I got lucky to get him to do that but I appreciate it thank you. Dave
You see these more often than you might think you would. Back when I was a kid soda in a machine was 10 cents. If you put a cent in acid long enough the soda machine would accept it as a dime, not that I would do this. The local auto repair shop owner was friendly and one day he showed me the coin box out of his machine with 4 acid dipped cents in it.
Pictures would tell if this is a split cent or acid treated. There is no mention if there is a design on both sides.
I got him to send a pic of the obverse and the reverse but the reverse was so bad even with me trying to crop it and fix it. So here's a pic it was the best I could do I appreciate you guys taking time to look at this thank you.
i got a 70d quarter like that. You can tell just by holding it. Must admit i never looked at it sideways. But definitely was light. Paddy sent pictures of one paddy had. These thing happen
I agree just in the short time that I've been doing this you find a lot of different kind of coins no doubt about it. But haven't found the big one's I no I probably never will but I have fun with it anyway. I like that CRH (FUN) thanks Dave
