I am not so sure about altered surfaces, but those later pictures sure make me think there is a good possibility that coin has been cleaned. BTW, CDNum , you coin is not a proof regardless of the die scratches.
Hi, I doubt a bit about fingerprint because black lines seem to be inlaid and parallel. It's weird. You can look at the 1 of 1909. For me, it is not a cleaned coin... but i'm not an expert. Thank you all! CDNum https://picasaweb.google.com/CDNumStamps/
Hi, Another question R higher than E and I in AMERICA is common on 1909 VDB penny? CDNum https://picasaweb.google.com/CDNumStamps/
Hard to tell what the color is from the various pictures provided, seems to be a different color in each shot when viewed on my computer. Anyways, I would grade the coin MS62RB with a shot at MS62RD if it's really as red looking as some of the photos make it appear. The coin is not a matte proof. Matte proofs have squared off rims, mirrored edges and very sharp details throughout. For the 1909 VDB matte proof, you would also look for diagnostic die polish lines just off Lincoln's nose in the fields as well as a single line perpendicular to Lincoln's shoulder pointing towards the R of LIBERTY.
Hi Illini420, Yes, color are different because i take picture from camera, scan and i use auto contrast/color/etc. It is not easy to take good numismatic pictures. Sorry. These 2 pictures come from Canon camera. Only cut and past from original pics. No flash, only halogene light overall. Finish seem to be different but i don't have lot of 1909 penny Thank you! Hi, Is die polish can cause an effect (rough) like that on a normal 1909 VDB Lincoln penny? Thank you! CDNum https://picasaweb.google.com/CDNumStamps/
Hi, Add rim picture. If you have a good link talking about squared off rims, i will appreciate. Thank you! CDNum https://picasaweb.google.com/CDNumStamps/
