@ro1974 I quite like you as an individual, almost all the time....appart from friday evenings. I think you're having hard times (or too much liquid) on friday evenings and should stay away from coins related sites at that time : too much of a pain for you Q
If I'm reading Ro correctly, it seems that he uses the "likes" system as a means of evaluating the desirability of one of the coins in his collection, or the wisdom of a recent purchase. If he posts a coin and it doesn't get a large number of likes, then he interprets that as indicating the relative undesirability of the coin. But Ro, what I would say is that judging a coin's worth by "likes" on this board is an inaccurate system. The number of "likes" might simply be a function of what time of day you post, not interest in the coin. And in truth, the desirability of the coin is probably better gauged by its market value, not whether I click on the like button. The posts that I tend to "like" are not posts that simply show a picture with a "what do you think?" expectation. They are posts that show a picture of a coin with a comment that teaches me something. What is special about the coin? Why did you get it? What can it teach me? Such posts seem designed to "give" something to the board, not just "take" likes.
I just got into this thread.....the more I read, the more I am confused! My logic when it comes to making an auction bid is easy, I want that coin for my collection, probably its affordable, has "eye appeal", great quality, interesting historically. I would never ask anyone else for advice. so, Ro I would go by the same rules, buy the coin, because, "you like it"
Ro if you buy all the coins I like you would be broke by the end of the month. I don't even buy all the coins I like, I'd be busted & divorced before years end. I do however buy the coins I like that I can afford at any given time, I tend to stretch my luck from time to time. Bottom line, I don't post every coin I buy and I don't expect everyone to like every coin I choose to post. Nuff said..
I'm going to say this, and some may interpret it differently but here goes. The likes here don't mean a thing. To me its like saying hi to someone. This site is very relaxed and chill, people could be posting a pic of their car, garden, music, or whatever and get 20 likes. I use it as saying keep posting cool stuff, and just because I don't click that like button doesn't mean I don't like it.
