No, no idea of who had it engraved or why. My Grandfather got it in change back in the 1930's or so - and because it was unusual, decided to keep it. My Grandfather passed away in 1959 and I wasn't interested in coins then, a couple of years later I started collecting but no one in my family had any idea of the significance of the date on this Seated Half. While we're on the subject of Seated Coins, here's a Half Dime that my Dad found inside a desk in Germany during WW-II and before my Dad passed I decided to have it certified [ the size is so small, I was always afraid he'd loose it. ]
1 more 1840-O + last year 1891-S Seated Dimes. there about 10-15 die variety's for each year :kewl: who knows I may find a new one?
