I look at them more like packaging. When I buy salmon at the grocery, it comes in an impregnable hard plastic tray with shrink-wrapped plastic sealing it in place. OK, I know it’s safe and I trust it. But then it’s impossible to enjoy it in the package and that package has to come off.</p><p><br /></p><p>So how is it different if I cannot put my coin in an album or see its reflectivity while it’s in its package? The packaging is somebody else’s idea of what to do with the coin, not mine. While I respect what they are trying to achieve, I can’t let that get in the way of what I want, either.</p><p><br /></p><p>It’s ironic, in fact, that I avoid buying coins in certain grades because I know I won’t enjoy them in their holders, and the cost makes me unlikely to take them out.
