I felt that folks unfamiliar with early halves may not realize that they had lettering on the edges from 1807 to 1836, and that reeded edges were only on the 1836-1839 issues. Since the obverses are essentially the same, the lettered-edge and reeded-edge look pretty much the same in the album. There is an exuberance in the 1825 compared to the more refined hair and stars on the 1838. The earlier Lady Liberty is a barmaid; in 1838 she was a librarian. The 1825 really needs to show the obverse. But, that eagle on the reverse has really grown on me. I decided to flip it over. I’ll sacrifice the obverse of the 1838 so I can show the eagle. Seeing it every time I turn to this page will give me immediate joy. And isn't that really what this is all about?
