Then I used Verdicare. Verdicare has mild detergent properties, so I liberally put several drops on the surface, then soaked a cotton swab in it and started gently working it around the dirty rims and surface spots. (Be careful not to let the coin get dry, and make sure you don't pick up any grit that you rub around with the cotton!! You do not want to scratch it.) I gently removed any excess Verdicare and then did everything all over again.
