This medal was struck by Albert Collis from a transfer die of the original die used to strike the undated (1792) &quot;Washington Born Virginia&quot; Medals. Once the restriking was completed, Collis donated the die to the American Numismatic Association, where it resides today. The design was originally intended for the Half Dollar and cent, but as rejected by the President, who did not want his portrait on the first United States Coinage.
