I was looking for a mid-lower range MS Barber for a decent price, and when I saw this one it just blew my mind. I had to sell a lot of stuff to be able to save up for this one! Placed a bid the day before it ended (@$126, not including BP), and seemed to be going to win it at that price until someone upped the price to $140. Arrgh...all in all, with BP and shipping the price comes out to around $160. In all honesty, when you see the color I think I got a steal anyways. The great thing about GC.com is that they make no mention of any type of toning...so it's relatively easy to cherry pick some beauties!

Anyways...about the coin. The obverse has a really nice speckled rainbow toning -- turning from a green/blue to a mahogany red and dark yellow as you move across the fields. The reverse is the true stunner though! Deep sea blue turns to a sea foam green and golden yellow towards the rims...I've seen few greater Barbers with such smooth and attractive toning. Most Barbers with such deep toning have TOO much toning in some areas (i.e.: brown/black toning). This coin has virtually none of that.

By the way...sorry about the rant. But considering that this coin cost almost 4x the amount of any other single purchase I've made in my entire collecting career, I felt it appropriate to write why I was willing to spend so much on it. I'll post some more pics when it comes in the mail!
