<p>[QUOTE=&quot;geekpryde, post: 1471898, member: 36248&quot;]I did something very out-of-character.&nbsp; &nbsp; I went to a very small local coin show, only my second one ever.&nbsp; I brought a decent amount of cash hoping to find either a PCGS/NGC 1998-s matte proof kennedy, Walking Liberty Half, toned morgan dollar or peace dollar.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; So basically 1 or 2 coins, graded, safe and sound.&nbsp;&nbsp; Well, there were literally almost NO graded coins at the show.&nbsp;&nbsp; There were a few ANACS and cleaned slabs of various things, which I was not interested in.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; But, there was folder after folder galore of dimes, nickels, quarters, halves, etc.&nbsp;&nbsp; I&#039;m sure this is true of every show, but I was dazzled by all the shiny things!&nbsp;&nbsp; <img src="styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" class="mceSmilieSprite mceSmilie1" alt=":)" unselectable="on" unselectable="on" /></p><p><br /></p><p>Well, I really like the thought of BU rolls of silver dimes / quarters / halves.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; But I never buy raw coins, so this was a little scary to me.&nbsp;&nbsp; I also dont want to &quot;invest&quot; in bullion, but I love the idea of numismatic coins that are made of silver and have some non-numismatic value, which reasured me since I dont really know anything about buying washington quarters or buying raw or buying at shows.&nbsp;&nbsp; <img src="styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" class="mceSmilieSprite mceSmilie9" alt=":eek:" unselectable="on" unselectable="on" /></p><p><br /></p><p>I didn&#039;t want to pay too much for each coin, but I also knew I was NOT interested in junk silver.&nbsp;&nbsp; I like the shinny BU coins that look silvery.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; I haggled and bascially got the guy to come down 20% off marked prices.&nbsp; &nbsp; I started picking out $8 BU coins, which I could get for $6.40 each, which is about how much APMEX sells them for.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Well, then I got myself into a little bit of trouble and started picking out $10 marked coins, then I even got one as high as $20 which I took for $17.&nbsp; &nbsp; I should have stuck with the &lt;$10 coins, but that now how it worked out by the time I was driving away.</p><p><br /></p><p>So here&#039;s what I got.&nbsp; &nbsp; To me, it looks like at least two of the coins are cleaned (posted closeups).&nbsp;&nbsp; In terms of silver, I got 4 oz.&nbsp; &nbsp; So basically $106 worth of silver for around $190 of BU coin cost.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; In addition, I got a decent spread on years and mintmarks, so this is the next series I guess I am focusing in, RAW!!!&nbsp; to keep it cheap.&nbsp; &nbsp; Looks like a dansco is in my future.</p><p><br /></p><p>Did I get a good deal, fair deal, or did I get scammed?</p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH]185113.vB[/ATTACH]</p><p><br /></p><p>I did have fun talking to the guys there, customers and dealers.&nbsp;&nbsp; NO pressure, I took a ton of time looking and asking and chatting about random stuff.&nbsp; &nbsp; Very relaxing way to spend 3 hours.&nbsp;&nbsp; Yes, 3 hours!!&nbsp;&nbsp; Felt like 1.&nbsp;&nbsp; :devil:</p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH]185115.vB[/ATTACH][ATTACH]185114.vB[/ATTACH][/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
