Got a chance to test out my new copy stand on an old coin. 1867 2C, I figure this one to be VFish. Just a couple of quick snaps to test the lighting and camera settings. Turned out fairly good, I think.
I'm just glad you didn't post one of your amazing pictures right after my first crack at coin photography... Awesome Merc, Bob!
A little over-diffused, now that I look at them. Lost the luster a bit in the search for contrast. The 4 is wear artifacting, not doubling, although I think the second 1 is tripled. Gonna be throwing some magnification at this one, because it's to be the sample coin for a lens comparison.
I've been looking for the 1853 A&R type seated coins for quite some time now... and here they are: 25c 1853 50c 1853 ...and an 1838 H10C which I had to buy: Just won the auction like an hour ago... no toning but a lot of luster and great eye appeal IMO.
One of the two Morgan dates I own as of this writing. Mine is in lower grade, unslabbed probably XF-45 maybe AU-50.
I'm late for this but Hugh, that's amazing. Tell me more about that hundred dollar bill tree in your backyard. Guess I'll just stick to cherrypicking junk bins...
Here's my tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Liberty Walking half. 1942 PR-65 with a green bean. Mintage: 21,120. NGC pop: 987. Happy Birthday!
Wanting ice water in hades is like wanting socialism. It sounds oh so good but you don't realize it will evaporate before it benifits you in any substantial way lol. (Not a political post just a funny and apropos humorous analogy in response to a joke but if you mods think it goes to far it's your choice to delete of coarse )
