as with anything just lucky and starting to really understand just what to look for, or, not find on such nice pieces.
Latest ancient. I only spotted it near the end of it's closing with no bids. Tossed one in and won it. Came out just $10 shipped. Could be cleaned up but there I times I like them crusty and green. I don't find this one too bothersome. Gallienus (253 - 268 A.D.) AR Antoninianus O: GALLIENVS PF AVG, Radiate and cuirassed bust of Gallienus facing right. R: GERMANICVS MAX V, Two captives seated at foot of trophy. Lyons Mint 258-259 A.D. 22mm 3.64g RIC V-I, 17.
Congrats! I see you decided not to buy from me though This one is genuine, I would say nice AU details, a little beat up though. The few scratches on the reverse MIGHT keep it from grading, but since these coins are so small, I doubt they would.
Got it in hand today and the pics did this one no justice. Has 40% mint luster left and has wear consistent with an xf 45 to au 50. Strike was what dropped it. But an xf 40 grade wouldn't surprise me on this one. It's a stunner
