Far from mint state, but I'll take a nice lower-mintage Walker any day of the week...especially for $15!
This one is in an old fattie NGC holder. The color and look of the obverse and reverse are very different. The obverse (which is what sold me the coin) has a lot of red and some very sharp diamonds and the "L" on the ribbon. The reverse has hints of green along with a more brown color than the obverse.
Picked these 2 up at the flea market today. Neither is terribly awe inspiring. The peace dollar just had that 'look" at the right price for the 7070, the Morgan's toning just spoke to me.
that 22 looks really nice!! The Morgan has some nice color as well............. Does the second 2 on the Peace Dollar show machine doubling at the top? From the photo it sort of does...
Thanks! It's just about exactly what I was after. I'm not a big Peace Dollar nut, so really just after one for the hole in the 7070. The standard I set for myself was "Wow factor eye appeal, Melt value cost." I came pretty close with this one at $30. It's quite my style. The toning is subtle, and accents the coin without dominating it, imo. Certainly might not be for everyone, but it pleases me. . Nope...just a quirk of the lighting/photo. Good eye, though, I hadn't noticed it until you said something.
Thought perhaps it might have been a VAM 2 machine doubling ... Lot of VAM possibilities on a 22P.. Definitely works for 30.00 that's for sure..
Sometimes coins in holders reflect the date off of the holder so that it is photographed twice. I haven't seen the picture up close of the peace, but just in case you are looking at your photos and get excited.
That is one eclectic matte proof cent. Its colors are jubilant as they blend and mesh into endless beauty.
This is about as good as toning gets. The electric lemonade blues and rosebud hues blend and mesh into perfection!
It looks like a rainbow imploded into this coin. I don't think I have seen such a colorful cent as this one.
Just to update, some of the folks over on Collectors Universe where I also posted this coin seem to think I had the obverse upside down and that the initials are "MF" or "FM." I think I agree with that. At the Glendale Coin Club show today I picked up a bunch of new stuff, will have to get the camera out soon and flood this thread
