I do the same thing. I have one a Dansco for Maple Leafs as well. I also am trying to collect Kooks, but the back dates are much higher than I want to spend on the coins.
For 2016 I have a goal of getting a bit more into Byzantines. My first of the year is a first as a whole, a Byzantine Cup Coin. I know it's hard to get the obverse with a full portrait but this was within my budget and mainly got it due to being a bit heavier then the norm for him. ISAAC II ANGELUS (1185-95 A.D.) Billon Aspron TRACHY O: MP ThV, The Virgin seated on a throne, facing. She holds a nimbate head of the infant Christ facing. R: I/CAA/KI/OC DEC/PO/TH/C, Isaac standing facing, holding a cruciform scepter and akakia. Constantinople mint, 1185 - 1195 A.D. 4.93g SB 2003, BMC 19-31.
Search the notes for errors, radars, etc. I once went to Walmart the girls scouts were outside the store, kind or rainy and chilly, but not that bad. They had like 4 boxes when I went in, told one of the girls I will buy a box or two when I come out. About 45 minutes later when I came out they were packing up to leave. One of the mom's said someone showed up and bought everything they had left.
Just picked this up cheap. Probably due to the terminal toning on the bottom of the rev erse. I still love the color overall.
Beautiful coloring. Also I like the bottom of the reverse. Adds unique character to the wild rainbow.
