Here something I picked up from my old shop. Charles had pickup just for me.knowing that I don't have one . From Vietnam till today we been helping each other.
I just recently starting looking at these coins, they were minted in London for Palestine under the British Mandate Authority 1927-1946. They're interesting coins, politics aside. I found these earlier this month on the bay...
Yeah land and state basically stolen from them. But where here for Coins. But historical issue can come up with information about coinage. Nice 50 mills !
Hi all. My Ebay gamble showed up. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/i-gambled-on-ebay-and-i-liked-it.222155/page-9#post-2312777 Here she is. I don't think I did too bad for a first time.
1880 S. The reverse has a black mark on it. A dealer at my LCS said most likely it's a burnt piece of ember from the old mint. He said back in those days the buildings were wooden and also very hot. Now and again hot pieces of burning ember would fall and sometimes land on the blank just ask it's struck therefore embedding it into the coin. He offered me eighty dollars for it, but I declined. 1881 S. I think the reverse is a little PL. These were taken under natural light. You can't tell in these photos, but the coin on both sides has taken on a slight golden tone.
Added this one from David Kahn on eBay. It is over-graded in the holder it's in. Common Philly date in a ridiculously hard to find grade range.
Are they from Great Collections? Their photos are probably not good enough to show a light cameo on the reverse.
Here is a provincial I picked up awhile ago of Septimius Severus. Got a great deal on it. Seems to be a bit on the scarce side. Septimius Severus (193 - 211 A.D) Æ 27 Anchialus, Thrace O: AY K L CEP CEYHROC PE, laureate, draped bust right. R: HG CT BABHAROY AGXIALEWN, Hygieia standing right, feeding serpent in arms, facing Asklepios standing left, resting on serpent-entwined staff. 12.77g 27mm Moushmov 2807; Varbanov 176 AMNG II 458
Bought a few dollars at the FUN show. Just got around to photographing them. Enjoy! First year of issue seated dollar (1840), PCGS 30 1878 VAM 224 Morgan dollar, PCGS 63. 168 reeds on the collar, and the only die pair that used this collar. 1882-O/S VAM 5 Morgan dollar, PCGS 62. 1885 VAM 9E Morgan dollar, PCGS 66. Gorgeous coin, lush luster. You can’t see it in the pictures, but the obverse die has a bunch of “water spots” or craters on it that I can only explain as being hubbed through moisture. 1882-CC VAM 3 Morgan dollar, PCGS 64+PL. Missed being graded 65PL probably because of the strike over the ear or the planchet flaw in the upper left obverse field.
@Frank MacD your 1922 Peace Dollar could be a VAM-2S. Here's an ANACS slab on eBay with that attribution and the same ray on the back. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281910314148
