just got these yesterday...common date Morgans, consecutive slabs, and I think pretty nice for $62 each.
My last coins of the year, a nice roman Antoninianus of Volusian and a neat Medieval silver, a type I have wanted for awhile. Volusian (251 - 253 A.D.) AR Antoninianus O: IMP CAE C VIB VOLVSIANO AVG radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. R: CONCORDIA AVGG, Concordia seated left, holding patera and double cornucopiae, star in right field. Rome Mint 3.35g 22mm RIC IV, 169; RSC 25; Hunter 6; Sear 9743. Alfonso XI, (1312 - 1350 A.D.) Spain, Leon Billon Cornado O: ALF'NS DI GRATI ; Crowned head of Alfonso XI left. R: CASTELLE LEGIONIS ; Castle with legend around. 19mm .81g
Bought this for my type set. When I blew up the photo at the auction house, I could still see flow lines on the obverse, so I'm guessing there's more luster on this coin than shows. I'm also thinking it's a slider as there appears to be very light rub marks on the obverse high points. The details on the coin are very much intact and there aren't very many contact marks. All this leads me to think it's a slider.
Stopped by the LCS yesterday to pick up some silver for the kids stocking. Wasn't looking to buy anything for myself. But of course I just had to look and see if there were any new commems in the case and since I didn't have a Grant........well, I figured you all would understand my weakness.
