I absolutely love coins and for the first time I my life have found a hobby that I think I will stick with forever . I went through want has to be the worst experiences first an now they are basically I can start enjoying it again. I enjoy the investigative part of tracing a coin where it originated from and how it go to the auction block.How it was handle there and who owns it now. I wonder if buys would want to know the true history of the the coin are believing granny kept it in her sock drawer for 69 years after bring it from Europe on the initial journey. I have a blast busting a dealer. the one s that can take it. Ive gotten to the point of a good since of humor. However I wont be laughing if and when the house of cards falls and it has to but it will rebuild bigger and better with out as much sleeze. only my opinion. Nothing last on a weak foundation and as an outsider looking in it is without doubt on shaky ground. Name one solid part of the industry today? Sure the high end coins. Ive never seen so many great buys and wont for quit a while after Pougue. Those will be dissected for 5 to 10 years when they wont be recognized. or wont want to be as they will only be higher. Theres a dynamic system in place that can only last a while then merger will bury bury the past. As a strictly circulated coin collector, that coin would have no place in my collection. But that's not to say it's a bad coin. Some people like that look, and really, there is nothing wrong with that. I like mine to have a thick skin and "dirt" accumulated in the devices.

 

Please understand I am not insulting you or your coin.

You just asked for opinions and that is where mine lies.

The TPGs routinely slab coins like this, but that look just isn't for me. I too like my coins to reflect a little age and to have their original skin as much as possible.

 

I strongly agree. I'm a strictly blast white collector, when it comes to silver. That coin is SO washed out, I'd have nothing to do with it. It shouldn't take you a 'couple of weeks' to contemplate the future of THAT coin! Let someone else dwell on it for a couple of weeks. Send that one back ASAP. No offense to the buyer, but there's no way a coin like that should look like that bright and 'shinny' (shiny).

Picked up this big roman bronze for $7 shipped. Guess the wear turned off bidders but it's honest wear and free of Bronze Disease & even flan cracks. Doesn't get much more of a bargain then this.
