Another U.S. Half Dime Variety, The 1844 FS-H10-1844-301 (000.063) Valentine 3c, Repunched date URS-7 I-4 L-4 . This repunched date features punches both North and South of the Primary date. I grade this in Fine condition.
Here's just one more U.S. Half Dime that I picked up.an 1845 FS-H10 1845-302 (000.66) I say in Fine details condition. All four digits are repunched It's a well known variety ,and in high demand to us Variety collectors.
One more find ...an 1872 Shield Nickel , Mintage 6,036,000 , Hub marriage of Obv.B and Rev. IIc .This specimen shows signs of Machine doubling on devices as well as the date but, I believe the 1 is repunched North.
Picked this one up over the weekend. Not the best grade, but what a "wow" coin on the doubling! The seller feels (and I'm in agreement) that the off center strike was first and the correct strike was second. Thrilled to add this one to the collection.
A couple more weekend acquisitions: 1944 Lincoln split planchet (obverse). The reverse of this half shows the shadows of the Lincoln bust. Seller accepted my offer, this one will be a welcome addition, even though it is a bit younger than I normally look for. And picker up this lovely 1905 Indian from one of my favorite sellers. This is the third Indian and fourth coin I've bought from them - all are as good or better than the pictures, and they are a pleasure to work with. The other two Indians are at PCGS at the moment.
Who would have thought then that those would be the good old days. It would be fun to go back and gather a few more items that now seem to be gone.
