Very nice coin for the grade Adam, congrats on the new pickup. After observing your posts and acquisitions for awhile, you seem to have a soft spot for Mercury and Roosevelt dimes as well as Jefferson nickels. Are those your major collecting focus?
You are correct. I have pretty much moved away from Roosevelt except for the keys 1949 P & S in full bands. Mercs are pretty affordable even in high grades and can have some great colors. Same for Jeffersons. I started my collecting career with a Jefferson war set. My collecting has moved more into the key dates in those sets and away from the common stuff.
I dont collect either of the dimes, I am a little bit larger denomination guy myself, but I do pickup nice Jeffersons if I feel like I am getting a good deal. Seems lately that Jeffersons have been trading at above prices I am willing to pay. I like to keep it around $20-$40 for most issues, barring the 'keys', but nicely toned BU example are getting harder to find in that range. I believe you mentioned that you acquired a 38 Proof Jeffie, did you ever post a picture of that one or received it yet?
I've bought 2 old albums, one an Library Coins album from a dealer friend and a Heritage album from a thrift store. Both were dime albums and I found mercury dimes inside the pages where the pages had started to come apart.
Ill have to take pictures of the coin later, NGC has a copyright on the images so.... don't feel like getting sued..
But the next target is either an easy 1909 S VDB, or a harder one of the other rare pennies. Maybe a 43 Copper or 44 Steel? Somehow I think I'll have a long wait for one of those, and then it will cost more than I have to spend!
