1941-D Lincoln Cent (PCGS MS67RB). I have loved (coveted) this coin from afar for over a year and finally talked Robec (twisted his arm?) into selling it to me. (I think I had built up some good karma by selling him a monster or two and sending him some nice freebies as well.) Robec has another 1941-D (a blue monster) so this was a duplicate coin for him. Can you believe this was his second best 1941-D!! Interestingly 1941-D is (by far) the most common date/mint for MS67RB grades in the wheat-backed Lincoln series, with over one-third (30/81) of the MS67RB's falling in the 1941-D slot. I think there was a monster (original) roll of 1941-D's submitted to PCGS a few years back, and over half the roll graded at that lofty grade. Kind of interesting lore.
I've been waiting for yKnot to post his new pickup, but he hasn't yet.. and it fits well right here. plus..... I just found that I have one more of these.
As promised, pictures finally! This is a set my grandmother surprised me with, a complete set, all uncirculated of the Kennedy Half Dollar Collection. From 1964 to 2014.
Indeed! Typically though, I don't care for these type of sets from Danbury, PCS, Littleton etc... etc.... because their either overpriced poorly graded coins or they include a lot of fancy and in most cases, unneeded packaging with stories and stamps and such and most of all, I hate to see her waste her money even though, good intentions are at the core. This particular set though, I am very impressed with, I believe she said it was $19.99 a month for 2 panels, they come with 2 coins for the year, both P and D and both Uncirculated to Gem Brilliant Uncirculated in some cases and both encapsulated. A little picture and a story of what happened with Kennedy in that year completes the panel and wrapped up in a very nice folder. To anybody else considering this set, I give it my vote.
Picked up this NGC AU55 1848 (N-28) Large Cent at a nice price. It's got a great skin with a nice tone.
Great coin, but, from the looks of it, the slab could use some work. Give it a taste of Slab Renew or other polishing compound.
Yea. I managed to shoot through the slab better on the obverse, but the reverse is more scuffed up. I'll buff it out and see if I can get a clearer shot.
Picked this up at a coin show today, paid about 10 bucks over compared to other dealers but was bought from a longtime friend so I guess it works out
Got this from our very own @The Penny Lady® this weekend. Believe it or not, it looks even better in hand. When I mentioned that whoever photographed it for me was going to have a tough job, she also said "just use my pictures!" I also picked up a beautiful NGC MS63 1903-O Morgan with gorgeous toning on both sides. So rare to find them with color on both sides, much less nice color! Unfortunately I don't have pics of that one yet.
