The LCS had it also in 64, but the price jumped up to 119. I know I wanted a bugs bunny variety, but I don't collect Franklins, at least not yet. They only had two left. I was going to get a 1921 UNC Peace, but he was all out.
Finally received by US Marshal Proof from the mint. It has tiny little scratches on the star. I will return it. I ordered another from the mint, but it's on back order. I hedged my bets and bought this on eBay for $52 delivered. Cheaper than I can get it from the mint. Needless to say, I'm happy about the win.
I attended the Whitman CoinExpo in Baltimore this weekend and had a great time. Here's my favorite pickup from the show, a Capped Bust 25C 1831 B-5 Large Letters, NGC AU55. Nice examples of any 1831 Large Letters are really tough to find compared to the plentiful Small Letters varieties, so I was thrilled to find one with vibrant color and great luster. Aside from the Large Letters reverse, the neat thing about this variety is the repunched date. All numerals in the date were repunched, most obviously the 1s (large 1s repunched over small 1s).
Stunning, a bit scarce with lovely coloring..I'd grab that Bust Quarter in a heartbeat!! ...Assuming i haven't already blew through my monthly budget as I'm already on the verge of doing for April LOL (RE: three pending bids ending tomorrow night)
In my continuing JFK improvement project for my collection, I found this pretty unusual coin--an NGC cameo star. Low population, despite ample mintage. Maybe I should start collecting NGC star proofs, as this one looks even nicer in hand than the picture:
