I always wonder what the codes mean. Like how could EEJJ even remotely come out to $75.00 or even what the seller paid for the coin.

 

Dealer once told me how they do it. They use some type of word that has 10 letters in it and each number stands for a letter. That way instead of trying to remember what you paid for it you just need to remember the word you used.

It's often a simple substitution method, each letter (or pair of letters) stands for a number. it's possible the dealer paid $55.00 (EE.JJ) for the coin and is asking $75...

That's exactly what my grandfather did while collecting. I have his coins in the original 2x2's and he has this code on the back of each one. He also noted when and where he bought it. I have his type set with notes from his purchases in the 70's on the flips. Pretty cool!

I bought a large cent and gsa Morgan which I usually stay away from. The large cent was cheap and I think if the Morgan didn't slide in the holder it would be a lot nicer on the cheek, I bought it because I thought it was a fairly clean gsa even if it didn't have "uncirculated" on the gsa case.
