Good looking 1951-D! Me likey. Good bell lines are relatively common for the date/mm, but they're tough to find with attractive toning. I agree with you that it looks really clean for a 65.
Those letters are the Cyrillic equivalents of SPB or St Petersburg. Nice coin! 1909 10 kopecks, issued under Tsar Nicholas II (who along with his family and servants would be murdered by the Bolsheviks in 1918), KM-20a.2, 1.7996 gm, 0.500 silver, 0.289 oz ASW. Large mintage of 25 million pieces per my 2008 Krause catalog. Best Regards, George
Just back from ANACS....the special they had for grading 2 coins for almost free just had to pay shipping
I had some ordering troubles, but Pinnacle Rarities fixed me right up. This is on it's way to me, and it deserves a few cigars!! Type 2, NGC AU55, CAC. A little less than the average grade of AU58, but with the green bean, and at the right price. One of the first examples I've seen of a Type 2 Gold Dollar that was in my budget. I got these in the mail today. First, a 1945 silver Washington quarter and a 1969-S proof quarter. The 1969 is UNC but I don't know what the 1945 would grade at (XF-AU?): Next, a 1909 Canadian large cent (I didn't know they made large cents for this long until I found this one on ebay):
It must have been judged to have a slight rub somewhere. Without the rub, I think it could actually go 64. The luster isn't quite a 65, but the other elements certainly align with a 64 IMO.
I picked this up for my Morgan set. I was a little leery of the grade when viewing the photos, as it doesn't appear to have a lot of luster. I got the coin in hand last night. It has a nice, but not booming, cartwheel luster. There is some toning on the obverse rim area from 9-2 o'clock. The reverse has light rose toning, with some dark blue rim toning at 6 o'clock. In this instance, I relied on the CAC sticker as the reason to bid. Since they had seen the coin, I was comfortable it would have the necessary elements to meet the grade. I'm very happy I bought this coin. These scans don't properly represent how nice this coin actuall is when viewing it in hand.
I received this last night and am really pleased. As you rock the slab, there's a lot of cart wheel luster and it also just radiates around the coin. The head design elements are well defined. The rivets on the shield are all there and the emblem is also fully defined. I know this particular year and mint typically have a strong strike and this is a perfect example of it. A great edition to my Type Set.
I like large cents too. I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favorite Canadian coins in my collection.
Thanks! The price was right too (under $3 shipped). If this is the going rate I might have to buy a few more.
