I will have to concede to your opinion then as I have neither in my hand to make a comparison with. I just thought that the coin and the date coincided with the shipwreck of very similar coins and could be a possible alternate explanation to a defective planchet. At any rate, these coins are pretty cool whatever their individual story
It's a tough call because you're correct that most of these 1808s are from the Admiral Gardner. I just don't see the salt water damage to the numbers and letters where there is planchet damage. Like these from Manila Bay
Not a new coin but the lights I used are new. I got a pair of Jansjo lamps today with some Christmas money that I got. This is the first image I took today and I'm pleased. Gold has always kicked my rear, still have some adjustments to make but I'm happy. Care to guess the grade?
My first 2015 piece, a silver greek. Was a price I couldnt pass up, despite some of its flaws, details are all there. Adding a silver greek of any kind is a big woo hoo for me. SIKYONIA, Sikyon (400 - 350 B.C.) AR Hemidrachm O: Chimaera walking left; SI R: Dove flying left. 2.48g 16mm SNG Copenhagen 57; Dewing 1834
An AU-58? Are "they" crazy? Eye-appeal alone makes it much higher. I realize it is an online photo, but I have seen MS-65s of just about anything in holders that I do not agree with in grade make me scratch my head and say, "huh?" Unless I am not seeing something, AU-58 is way under graded.
I did the reverse last night and added it, not a good shot. The gasket is seeping through on the reverse side. I'll probably send it in for a new holder and take advantage of the Quarterly Special which is 5 FREE Trueviews on your submission. I got 4 more around here that I can add.
I did not even notice the date on this beauty at 100 years old! Lovely coin in every respect. I am guessing the grade of AU-58 is due to the fields looking (again, from an online photo) being less than some sort of mint state. Regardless, it is a beauty!
I won this Canadian 1936 dollar sellers photos too. . I just hope it will grade above MS 60 63 would be great for me.
It looks like there's some wear on it and not much luster. I can't see it going above AU55. Hoping you get lucky and it grades MS Nice coin Jello
Canadian grading services had MS 64 normal drop is a few grades lower when you submit to a Ngc or Pcgs that's what I am hoping will happen.
