I've been assembling a 7070 for quite some time and never considered "upgrading" or "swapping" any of them. My Morgan silver dollar though, always felt a bit flat. I picked this up a few days ago, along with the Lincoln cents a few posts back. Very pleased. Any comments on grade are more than welcome! Thanks for looking. -L
Finally found a reasonably priced 1899 Morgan for my RS. I didn't really see the wonderful toning in the sellers picture but when it arrived I was blown away. I need to send it to pcgs to be reslabbed and pictured. Hopefully it has a chance at a 65.
Nice coin. Why do you need to re-slab it? Is it for your registry set at PCGS? If/when you do cross it, let us know the results. We all know that it will cross one grade point lower...(sarcasm)
Yeah, I just like pcgs better for some reason when it comes to non modern coins. And I'm not positive but I don't think they would grade it lower. I believe there is some sort of guarantee, though I've yet to do it so idk.
My sarcastic remark was intended for those who believe the only answer is a PCGS coin. Anyway, don't want to open up that discussion.
Another coin I have wanted for awhile, a coin featuring a funeral pyre. Got a good deal on this one. Also liked the toning. Antoninus Pius (138 - 161 A.D.) Struck Under Marcus Aurelius O: DIVVS ANTONINVS, bare draped bust right. R: CONSECRATIO, funeral pyre of four tiers with quadriga on top. Rome Mint, 161 - 180 A.D. 18mm 3.2g RIC III M. Aurelius 438
Alot of people think that. Its really this: http://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/lookandlearn-preview/XM/XM10/XM10012/XM10012835.jpg
Ok, I know the lowly modern Lincoln cents get little respect but it is still nice too have one so new it does not show up in the population report yet. I am also know that as time goes by and more and more are sent in for grading pops will of course continue to rise. I still have a lot of coins with populations in the single digits after 50 plus years. NGC MS69RD 2014 Lincoln Shield Reverse cent. I believe the current NGC population is 3 at MS69RD. Here is the certification # if you would like too see NGC's photo. #3966834-001. I always have too thank the seller for looking out for me. A large portion of the top population coins in my 59-Date circulation Lincoln collection have come from this seller. Thanks Mark. Of course this one will be going out too robecsimages as soon as I can too be photographed.
I'm with you tho I like the look of pcgs slabs better. To me it's 6 of one half a dozen of the other pcgs or NGC. And I've got about equal numbers of both tho as late I feel NGC more consistent
Bought this NGC MS67RD 1946D Lincoln Wheat Ear cent a few weeks back and it was sent into CAC by a fellow collector for me too see if it meet CACs standards. This particular coin did meet their standards and received a green sticker today. Been trying too buy examples I think will meet their standards and them I wait and see. I have had some successes and more failures. Hoping as I learn too even it out some. I hope you enjoy the coin. 1 of only 14 too meet CACs standards
1803 O-103 R-3 1803 O-103 R-3 [as are all 4 die marriages] Obv 1. Rev: C, Leaf nearly touches base of I. 13 arrows. This seems to be Prime die state, w/o trace of reverse die crack.
1880 S MS64 DPL. It's in an old NGC no line fattie. Couldn't resist the color. Not a monster but nice.
