ANACS: Chicago--ANA Sample Slab ANACS is classy, they are the only ones to list the event. See next 2.
Some major purchases, for me anyway, to complete the half dime portion of my Liberty Seated type set and the CC and O mint dimes finish the branch mint examples for that denomination leaving just the 1860-61 Type 1 obverse to complete the dimes. The half is the third of 16 pieces required for that denomination. 1850 half dime PCGS MS-64 CAC. The pictures are a bit darker than the coin is in hand to show off the colors better. 1876-CC dime PCGS MS-62 F-111 MPD #74 in the top 100 Liberty Seated dime varieties. The misplaced 8 is clearly visible in this photo. A very important variety. The highlight of my Seated dimes. http://www.seateddimevarieties.com/date_mintmark/1876cc_111page.htm 1891-O dime PCGS MS-63 CAC F-108 1846 Medium Date half dollar PCGS AU-50. A very tough date to find in problem free, original AU or better.
I didn't take pictures before putting them in their cases, but I got four BU halves in the mail today: 2000-P, 2001-D, 2013-P, and 2014-P. I'm working on collecting all of the JFK halves. I'm starting off by getting one from each year, then I'll work on getting all of the mintmarks.
Why are the graders putting the reverses on shield pennies on the front of the slab? I have a NCG 2014 shield cent and the reverse is in front of the slab.
It is so people can see the reverse showing in the front of the holder for that design type. When someone wants to display their collection you can see the back of the coin and still see the holder label. In my 20th century type sets where there are more than one variety for a specific series I normally have the obverse showing and the reverses for the ones that are different. For example, the Eisenhower dollars have two different reverses, the normal one and the bicentennial. The one holder I have there is a hole for the 40% silver, copper-nickel clad and bicentennial. The 40% shows the obverse, the clad and bicentennial coins show the reverse.
That and now more people are requesting it. I have also seen a number of other coins, mostly Morgan dollars, with exceptional reverse toning encapsulated showing the reverse in the front.
You know me if there's a way to mangle a photo I'll end up doing it only way I could figure it out was to take a pic of the email on my phone screen. Why I like having my coins in had as my pics are no comparison
