1872-S Half dime, mint mark above bow, PCGS MS-64 CAC. I have all of the obverse varieties (7), one more half dime needed to have both reverse varieties, an example for the legend reverse 1837-59, this coin is the second of the two branch mints that made half dimes, New Orleans and San Francisco.
Bought this one on ha today for my type set a very very tough date mintage of 7500 and nice pleasing original color and surfaces. Was looking to buy a nice circulated original version of one of the rarer dates rather then a higher grade common date
@jello Yes, it is. I had been looking for an S mint half dime for quite some time and had a couple that I was considering to fill that slot. Then I found this one and I knew I just had to have it. It has already been added to my gallery for the half dimes here on CT. I have the last half dime I need to finish them off in my sights and the end of next week if they still have it I'll call them to set it aside for me.
One of only two Plus grades given by PCGS for this variety in all grades.Gonna throw this up on the Bay.
This is close to 3 months old, so I have been slow to share it. Got it for the reverse and ended up getting it for a steal too. Postumus (260 - 269 A.D.) AR Antoninianus O: IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG, Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right. R: FIDES EXERCITVS Four military standards, hand on top of second, eagle on third. Lugdunum (Lyon) mint. Struck 266 A.D. 3.8g 20mm RIC V 303; Cunetio 2432; Elmer 417; RSC 65 Scarce
Just picked this one up today. Sellers picture so I will post a better one when I receive it. NGC MS67RD 1954 S Lincoln Wheat Ear cent "CAC". The seller had been asking well over $200 for this coin for a long time. Considering the list for this coin is $120 and the most recent auctions average just below $100 they were asking too much. Finally got them down too $135. Not too bad with the "CAC" sticker
I just bought all three SMS sets from a fellow forum member. I'm debating whether to open the '65s to put them in a Whitman multiple coin holder or to just leave them in their packages. I'm leaning toward leaving them alone.
MillRat, in case you were unaware Brandon has been back for a little while. http://www.bestofyesterdaycollectibles.com/news/single.asp?news_id=2
Got a couple more newbies at ha I thought the prices were brutal and everything I did get I really paid for but all 3 were beauties
It was rough I couldn't touch a trade dollar not that I liked very many and I went above and beyond what I planned to pay but these 2 and my 1850 seated dollar are tough coins with original color I don't see every day
