This is what I have so far of my birth year Eisenhower dollar set. The clad proof hasn't gotten here yet. The '72 40% silver business strike was sent by mistake, but I decided to keep it because it's beautiful, and I eventually want a full set of UNC Ikes.
I created a new digital coinboard over the past few days. This covers 104 years of Lincoln Cent Proof Production on a "single sheet" -- and displays my colorful examples. This took me about 4 years of hunting to accumulate. Just 2 holes left.
Another coin I have had for awhile is a Pius Dupondius that turned out to be pretty scarce. Info comes from CNG, apparently unrecorded in references. Antoninus Pius (138 - 161 A.D.) Æ Dupondius O: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P IMP II, Radiate bust right, slight drapery. R: TR POT XIX COS IIII - Annona seated right, holding cornucopia in both hands; modius at feet to right. S C' below, in exergue. 11.7g 24mm Cf. RIC III 956 (As); cf. BMCRE pg. 337, * (same) Unrecorded as a dupondius?
@Mainebill was just saying to me over a beer the other day that he hadn't seen you post in a long time. Welcome back!
A customer came in the store yesterday and threw a bunch of change on the counter. He pushed some quarters towards me but I saw the large S on the reverse of this nickel and helpfully said "I can take the nickels off your hands instead" and he agreed. It's the nicest war nickel that I've found in circulation so far.
Thanks. Yesterday was the last day at the store that I've worked at for the last 15 months and it was fitting to find a war nickel. I'm starting at a new store today and hopefully I'll still continue to make some nice finds.
Nice buy! Saw them at the spring Baltimore show and they were all breathtakingly amazing! Certainly wish I could afford one!
