Great looking coins Paddy!!! Thanks for sharing them. You know I often look at coins that old and wonder "Where have you been" LOL
Saw this double mint set earlier in the week on ebay, and was watching it to see if the price would spike up (as a lot of older mint sets do because of the toners in them). Surprisingly, the bid showed only $149.50 with a minute to go, so I ended up (manually) sniping the auction and winning it for a little over $160 shipped. The set shows two contrasting toning patterns -- one has cobalt blue and crusty orange prevalent throughout, while the other has golden/rainbow toning. The seller said that the boards have not been removed from its green backing; so what kind of toning exists on all the coins' reverses is a mystery. I have high hopes for the franklins -- hopefully they'll be nicely toned on the side that's not shown and possibly grade FBL. Took a gamble here...hope it pays off! Will post pictures when it comes in the mail (seller's pictures below):
Those are some beauties gbroke :thumb:! Just won this blazer on the bay a few minutes ago. Can't wait to get it in hand. The luster looks amazing, especially on the reverse.
This turned up in deal my buddy made and I was able to buy it for a "token" amount. I really dig flying eagle cents and with the small number of coins in the series, its nice to find something new to add to the collection. I don't know anything about this token. Maybe someone here does.... Anyway, I like checking in on this thread and all the cool coins you guys are buying. Thanks! Matt
Just finalized a deal to add this PR66BN to my MPL set. I couldn't be happier. Thank you Winged Liberty for pointing this out to me.
Got the whole SBA set minus the 2 Type II Key Date proofs in a Dansco a while back. It's got several beautiful rainbow toners, this one included.
Found some nice Eagles a few days ago. Finally got around to photograph them. I ended up with 3 1991's and a 1987 as well. Got all of them close to spot, so I am thrilled. I love the toned '91
This TrueView photo just came in last night! This coin is 1 of only 66 total MS67RB Wheatbacked Lincoln Cents graded by PCGS (with only 1 higher at MS67+RB). There are no PCGS MS68RB Wheatback's known.
Hello WingedLiberty; Your 1969 S 1C toner is stunning! I adore toned cents and yours is par excellence! Congratulations on the new acquisition.
