It is pretty cool to have a war nickel sample slab, but that's not a PCGS 3.5. The 3.5 is a two piece slab with the small PCGS logo on the bottom of the outer ring. The slab you have is a later one-piece slab with the PCGS logo on the lower right corner of the slab. I actually won a commem in a PCGS 3.5 slab last night, here's what the slab looks like:
I like that San Deigo half. Here's a 1937 Texas Half NGC MS65 that I bought almost on a whim, altho I've been dabbling in gold & silver commems for a very long time; wish I could buy 'em all. I think the design on the Texas Halves is one of the most attractive in the series.....
Nice San Diego and Texas Commems! I bought this PCGS MS65 1954 Quarter on Sunday. I had an auction scrolling on one PC as I was doing work on the other PC, then I saw this "looker" come up out of the corner of my eye and I pounced. This might be one of the most eye-catching Washington Quarters I've ever seen. Speaking of 1954, when this Quarter was being minted, this car was rolling off the lot. It's easy to forget how long ago 1954 really was.
1887-P Morgan Dollar Vam ? WL:thumb: Gemmy 1954!! Here my one I picked Monday Au+ maybe MS-60-61 but clashed all over. I know the 1887-P has 55 Obv &54 rev/hubs or die combos. but this looks like they used all of them.Any Idea's???? :kewl: http://s639.photobucket.com/albums/uu114/jelloman1950/7-11 1887-P Morgan Dollar/?albumview=slideshow
Just quick photos with the Droid. I just realized I had the '55 Bugs Bunny but not the regular '55. Had to get one! I also got the 2009 cents from a broken up mint set...had to have the copper varieties. Won't post those though. A '28 S Merc with Large S is on its way too, will post pics once it comes in.
Won these off TT, should be en route by the end of the week... PCGS 2.0 PCGS 2.0 PCGS 2.0 PCGS 4.0 PCGS 4.0 I'm a sucker for those old slabbed merc dimes. There was a 3.5 I really wanted, but I wasn't about to pay 20% over it's actual value for it.
Merc Crazy, I envy you and your Mercury Dime collection. They are definitely stunning and beautiful. Majority of mine are VF-AU, still very proud of them, but DANG those dimes you post are awesome!
You can pick up a fantastic '40's Merc for 50-60 bucks. Like, MS66 FB examples. Get one! I have a few nice ones I picked up off someone on the PCGS forums that I haven't gotten around to taking pictures of yet. Pretty sure one of 'em would slab 67 today.
Oh I would surely be tempted! I honestly thought about purchasing a nice slabbed 1940-something FB sort of as a "perfect Mercury" example...still toying with the idea, but maybe one day! (Brad's eyes drift into a blank solid stare as he fantasizes)
