I'll give it a stab, but I am certainly no expert. From what I can tell from the pictures, it would grade about VF35 to XF40. (The wing wear drops it.) So if I were a buyer, I would do my best to try to buy at the VF35 price. So maybe 120ish? It really is tough to get a solid grade from the pictures since your coin shows the majority of toning around the rim. I was comparing your coin to the pcgs photograde and realized how tough it is to compare darker coins with cleaner/brighter ones to determine wear. Meh, now that I have typed this out, I'm thinking I could be way off...I suppose nothing can substitute for having a coin in hand. One thing I do know, it is a beautiful coin! Congrats for picking it up.
Minnesota P+D has about 120 Die Varieties your going to find them all !!! Rick keep up the good hunting!!!
As long as Walgreen lets me go though their change, I'll find a lot of them, that's for sure !!! :thumb:
She came in at XF-45, but you werent far off. I had to give a $190 for her, but i was ok with that. She pretty much had everything I was looking for, so im happy.
OK so I just did a trade with gbroke and I received my goods. I was to get a brown box Ike and a nice blue toned Franklin from him. He said he was going to include a couple bonus coins for me! Well, in true gbroke fashion, he went over the top! The Franklin is awesome, and the bonus coins turned out to be a pair of lovely toned Canadian small cents! Those of you that know me know that I LOVE toned Canadian cents. Greg is a true gent! Thanks buddy!
Greg is the man, without a doubt. He was very generous to me in my first few fledgling days here. And in his honor I've moved from bullion stacking to both stacking and collecting. In fact here's a new, nicely toned Walker I purchased last week! Just a hint of rainbow in them thur edges
Gah! I have no proof, but right before I sent the last message as to what it would grade your coin, I originally had my range from XF40 to XF45, but since I always seem to overgrade, I bumped it down by five on each side. Honestly though, I really like your coin. It has such a clean look to it, even if it was VF35 or XF40, I would not have minded bumping up and paying over greysheet. But now that you said it came in at XF45, I think you did great!
I always over grade too, so I know the feeling. This coin is one of those I actually used some patience on (didnt even know I had coin-patience, lol), I had been trying to find an example that was clean, original, well struck through the bust so Pluribus was full on the reverse, still somewhat silver in color and not completely toned or dark, and as a bonus my coin had some nice golden toning going on around the rim. I looked at several that were near AU, but cleaned or 'details' graded in some way, and finally i popped up on this one. It was listed at $220, so i felt alright getting it down to $190, I was really hoping for $175 though, but i like the coin, and its my first CBH!
Glad you liked them Petro. Great images you took as well! You have bought some beautiful coins Trey. I love seeing a bullion guy turn into a collector. Just stay away from the toners, those are mine. The coin community: I have no doubt that I would not be a collector if it wasn't for the great community I jumped into years ago. So many people have been extremely generous to me throughout the years, so I need to follow suit. Not just by giving me coins, or amazing deals, but in general with advice, the education, and the overall goal to make me a better and more informed collector. I have many books and a box full of coins from other members that were given to me, most often as surprises. They are the most valuable items in my collection. So, no need for thanks or anything like that. Happy collecting! Case in point: Ten minutes ago, I opened a package from Cazkaboom . I was expecting one coin, but of course, he had to throw in a beautiful, toned nickel. Now it goes into my treasure box along with many other coins from him. It's inspirational when a young man like this is can show generosity, in addition to his level of knowledge in this hobby. Anyway, I digress... GO MICHIGAN *\o/*
1972-D Jefferson Nickel RPM I think this will be the " First " RPM for this year, what a find :lurker:
