It is an Accented Hair variety. These were made early in the production of the 1964 proofs. This coin is raw at the moment, but am getting ready to send it to either PCGS or NGC.
Thank you for responding Robec. I thought it was an accentuated hair piece due to the deeper hairlines on his head. I love the Kennedy half dollars and have quite a few, mostly proofs. One coin that I do not own is the accentuated hair variety but I plan on adding it to my collection someday.
I didn't know either when I bought it Just made a post on the Coin Chat forum w/ the info I found on it so far!
Recent acquisitions. Here are some Morgans I recently picked up raw from my local coin shop. The 1898 O is very frosty with sharp devices and no visible marks. If I were to send it to a TPG I think it would come back MS-65 or MS-66. The 1900 O would maybe come back MS-64 or MS-65. What do you think? Your comments and advice is welcome and appreciated.
I just want to apologize for the lousy images that I downloaded in my post. I just reviewed the posting and realized that they are blurry. I am still experimenting with photographing my coins and I would consider myself a novice when it comes to photography in general. Just wanted to let you know. The images should improve with future posting.
My latest pickup ... I'm not a big Jefferson Nickel collector, but I just couldn't resist the colorful toning on this one. Some coins are just too pretty not to buy. P.S. Love the Wisconsin posted above.
First one is a half dime for my Everyman Type set. Has the right look I like in the seated series. Second, is a nice ciculated Stone Mountain that I purchased from our own FrankCoins. Just had a nice circulated look to it and I couldn't pass it up.
