I went to the bank to put my nickels from roll hunting in the machine and my 3 year old son pulls these out of the coin machines return slot. I guess this will be his first find.
Picked this proof set up last week. Don't really collect British coins, but 1.44 oz for $40 was good enough for me.
:thumb: I know there is a Die # for this 1 @ the link below or http://www.lincolncentresource.net/forums/ :thumb:Here to-> www.coppercoins.com
i also saw this which i didn't know they made and i liked it so home with me it went and i bought some decent looking junk (is that an oxymoron?)
That's going to be a great looking set easj. And that is indeed a decent-looking bunch of silver junk. I take it the 1891 quarter isn't in high enough of a grade for your date set?
thank you and yes the 1891 was to low for the set. even though i know some of the coins will end up being that condition, the lower price ones i want to have decent examples of.
That's exactly the kind of LRB I'm drawn to myself. Grad-wise VF, but with well-struck, well-centered devices, full rims, and a patina that puts the design in relief - although a desert patina is technically defined as "deposits", which is a nice way of saying dirt. Somehow if an ancient coin looks too clean, it doesn't look ancient. Nice find!
Thanks JA. Yes, it appears I've defnitely been bitten by the ancient/Roman Imperial bug. Picked this one up along with some others I'll share in a world/ancients thread soon. The photos don't do the patina justice on this one. It's more green than desert in hand. But I agree, I find the desert patina especially appealing on the LRBs.
Out of curiosity, which slot does the stone mountain go into? I've always wanted the stone mount comm.
First bust coin. Sniped it at the last second. <$50.... Cheap coin for the set. Now onto finding a seated half at a bargain!
