Hey Caz! Do I see some doubling on the "CC" of your 1876, or just some metal disturbance? BOTM ~ Bust out the magnifier.
I'm very excited about this coin - it fits my registry set aesthetic: great color and one off the top pop at 152/7. I paid a reasonable premium for the toning without spending big bucks for an extra grade point. At 67 I'm expecting a lot of luster, and I'm guessing the colors are much more vibrant than the seller's washed-out images would indicate.
I was wrong. I had spent some time looking through mint sets that had probably already been picked over, and only found some very drab toners. But a recent purchase from NFC changed my mind. The image wasn't good, but when I got it in hand, the colors were astonishing: bright neon-metallic blues and honey. I'm expecting something similar from this coin.
Some more hole fillers, but since I'm working a complete date set, I've got to fill the holes. These are all PR69DCAMS - the pops at 70 for these dates are very low, so it puts the highest grade out of my budget, not to mention they're very hard to find. The 73 is 5,337/17, the 74 is 6,329/19 and the 76 SILVER 19,303/53. Two of them were Dutch auctions, but I've only had to return one 69 so far, and that wasn't because I disagreed with the grade, but rather because the toning was unattractive.
Meh, I've seen better... I believe the new, proud owner of this coin is an active forumite over at PCGS. Now that is quite the acquisition.
I think you are being facetious, but just in case you aren't. No because it was plugged before it was struck. Weight adjustment.
ff-topic:Here the list that was also with 1794 Dollar. http://www.coinnews.net/2013/01/25/1794-silver-dollar-coin-sells-for-world-record-10-million/
It saddens me to think that most of these coins will most likely be part of an investors collection and not seen in the numismatic community
