I was in a copper mood so I decided to go and build to the in-process Lincoln set. Usually, with some patience and careful consideration I do well on Ebay, but so far I'm half disappointed with the purchases. Figured I would share them regardless, so here are my very quick pics: First the good: This one almost has a mirror quality to it that I was too impatient to capture equally on both sides of the coin: Now the ones I'm disappointed with: This one is toned, and those who know my posts know I like the "mint original" sort of coins so toning turns me off. With a set of red, red-brown, and brown MS cents, this one stands out. It's nice and lustrous, shows a rainbow progression, but definitely at the end stages of toning around the periphery I was too impatient to attempt to get the obverse as it is darker than the reverse, but you get the idea: This one has parallel striations I'm not sure of in the field immediately in front of Lincoln's eyes and some discoloration in the field behind Lincoln's head...fingerprint perhaps? This Type II has a fingerprint right on Abe's jacket. The only reason I probably won't return it is because I got it really cheap and it looks like Lincoln is wearing corduroy which I find highly amusing. Hopefully the other half arriving next week will be more redeeming as I've been fairly disappointed with this batch so far. Live and let learn I guess.
Another coin I got from xmas last year. 4th coin of this empress but its nice. Faustina Jr. (146 - 175 A.D.) AR Denarius O: FAVSTINA AVGVSTA; Draped bust right, wearing stephane. R: SALVS; Salus standing left, holding sceptre, feeding serpent rising up from altar. Rome 3.35g 18.5mm RIC 715, RSC 197a, BMCRE 145 (Aurelius)
Thank you very much. It's in a batch of Morgan's I am sending off to be graded once I get my tax refund. LOL
like the post above you says, Danial Carr. he makes all sorts of neat things including the 1964 peace dollar. here is his website http://www.dc-coin.com/
well under most of the items he puts that warning and i believe most of the time he is using actual currency. so who knows. buy one yet? we all know you like those kenndey's
Got the grade and TrueView of this 1982-S Proof Roosevelt Dime back last week. PCGS PR67DC. This type of blue toning occurs occasionally right inside the Mint sealed plastic holders, not exactly sure why, but it is cool looking.
Wing.. another beauty there.. amazing ! Here are a couple 61 pf franky's... I think that year in the pf series presents the most nice toners, with yours being the best looking I've seen to date, in any year within the series.
