More or less, a very common year Morgan purchased at a local auction. What made me buy it was the MS65 grade. At this point and up, they become harder to find and have a much better value.
If you remove it from the packaging it will not receive the designation of a cheerio's cent. Leave it in its original packaging
Brian, that 38 is the definition of perfection. Absolutely gorgeous! Is that an ANACS slab I see though?
Thanks! And yes, it's in one of those new, blue ANACS slabs - They called it EF45, which I find rather comical. I'll have it crossed eventually, but I suspect PCGS will call it VF30. Depending on whether they think the die breaking contributed to some weakness in strike, they maybe call it VF35. Just depends on who's grading that day.
This one looks polished. It's a little to bright but I hope that I am wrong. I have to remember that the 1921 Morgans are considerably different than the original Morgans.
Got this together with a 2006 Kennedy silver proof (PR69) in a high bid even though the reserve wasn't met... a 2003 ASE (ICG MS68)
Very nice barbers. These coins have gotten quite expensive in recent times. One day I'd like to get one that isn't worn flat. When do you think they were saved? I heard many Barber halves disappeared from circulation in the 50's. By then they were pretty much AG grades. Before then the coins had no numismatic value so I guess that's why so few were saved?
