RLM, if my eyes are perceiving the color correctly on your 1956-D, that might be the first silver toned Mint State Lincoln I've ever seen .... and yes, it looks like a "non-hard silver-toning boundary" coin ... It's great to see another example of this rare toning. I think what you have is even more rare than what I have since I have never seen silver toning in a mint state Lincoln before. Nice pickup!
I have seen several mint state Lincolns with small blotches of silver (usually next to the rim), but you are right. That is the only one I have seen that is significantly silver. Unfortunately, I cannot find pictures of the other coins right now.
This is the more typical silver toning pattern (with the hard distinct border) that you see ... (this is not my coin! image by robec). Robec has some that are all silver colored (both sides).
Just came in the mail today. Seller's pics, not great but a lot better than I can get on slabbed coins. Pic's don't compare to it in hand. The luster is dripping and there are several hints of lime green toning on both sides and the color that looks orange-ish is actually pink.
Well, well, well, the wife and I had a pretty good week. Hopefully our luck keeps it up. We picked up all of these coins for $20. These are the 2012 ATB Hawaii Volacanoes quarters(P & D) Our coin club handed them out to everyone last night. This 1903 Barber dime was a raffle ticket win. This 1990 $5 AGE was also a raffle ticket win!!!!! This 2011 Proof ASE was a raffle ticket win at my Tuesday night coin club meeting. What a week, I spent $10 in raffle tickets Tuesday and Thursday and brought home a lot of ka-ching! I told the wife she is gonna go to all of the coin club meetings with me, she's good luck.
Picked up this Barber Half at the Tidewater Coin Show today. Been waiting a long time for the right coin. Down to two coins to complete the set in Fine.
