it is slick, cleaned, holed, and i love it, my first 1838 o no stars dime and an 1835 capped dime the girl bought for her set she's putting together
In my 43 years of collecting, this is the first time I have ever seen another 1842 large cent other than my own, which came from circulation, long, long ago. You have a beautiful coin!
Had it for about 2 weeks. This type is particularly scarcer as he was only augustus *emperor* for 2 years before he died, his coinage as caesar is much more common. A bit worn but was cheap & I always wanted one with him as augustus. Large pic. Titus (79-81 A.D.) AR Denarius O: IMP TITVS CAES VESPASIAN AVG P M, laureate head right. im finally going to send mine off after a couple years of just not doing it. im thinking it will get your grade as well
A nickel's worth of Lincolns I piced up today! A few cents worth of new stuff. The 29 D is the same coin in both pictures, I just forgot to shoot the reverse of the 29S.
It's interesting when you see coins take on wild and vibrant color inside sealed (original) U.S.Mint cello packaging. I have never seen a blue toned 1964 proof lincoln before -- I have seen that color toning on other years though (especially 1961's), but it's rare on 1964's. It just makes me wonder what might have caused something like this? Impurities in the alloy? I have no idea. Since it was sealed, I have to think that environmental factors would have to have been greatly diminished. (By the way, robec did a stunning job with the photo!) (And a final note, this was a "freebie" coin from Shane at KryptoniteComics, one of the top eBay sellers of colorfully toned coins. Thanks Shane!)
Here is another one. A monster toned Jefferson nickel that toned inside the original cello proof set packaging. This is some of the best color that I've ever seen on a Jefferson. And it's interesting to note that none of the other coins in the cello packaging toned, they were all their original mint-fresh color -- just the Jefferson Nickel toned. Why? It's beyond me. (Once again, robec's photo is stunning!)
That is totally stunning. If it weren't in a mint cello' people might even think it is AT because it is so spectacularly intense. I'd have that one slabbed!! WOW!!!!
Wow Traz, those are a couple of nice coins. That 1877 was probably the nicest coin I've seen on here. Are you trying to complete a set of shield nickels? WingedLiberty, did you see that 1877 Traz posed a page back? You would definitely appreciate it. For my recent acquisitions, I picked up a PCGS PR69DCAM set of all the coins from 1990. Also, for my birthday, I picked up the 75th Anniversary Silver Eagle set in PCGS PR69DCAM. These are just stock photos.
Yes I am actually working on a complete nickel set, but right now mainly focusing on Liberties and Shields. There are only a couple buffalo's and most of the nickels are proof. Here's the link to the proof set: http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/alltimeset.aspx?s=68063
just got my capped half in from heritage to complete my half set collection. the rubbing on the cheek/breast while I was aware of in the auction photos is a lot more noticable in hand. I think it'll grow on me but it was a shock. I think i'll take a break from older coinage and fill some modern holes within my collection for awhile. It'll be cheaper and it'll allow me to budget for my PL morgan (my next major project) for fun I've add a photo of my dog. He has webbed feet due to a birth defect and can't walk on hard surfaces, only carpet and the like. He island hops lol. He was a rescue. He's having quality daddy time. enjoy
