I remember you posting this on your "Color of Money website"! (When it was with NGC, that is). IMHO, your original pictures of the coin were better than the PCGS TrueView. Beautiful coin, regardless.I wouldn't be surprised if a Toner lover robbed your house sometime soon  Anyways, here's one that came in the mail. ANACS Old "Soap Bar" style slab MS63 RB. The coin has a decent amount of luster and red to it, but I can't shoot photos through slabs for the life of me. There's also much more detail to the coin (ex: the coin actually has a strong full 4 diamonds) but, alas, my photography skills suck. Anyways, I think I'll post this one over on the "Got Wood" thread too for obvious reason
Latest ancient. First big bronze ancient also. Faustina Jr. (146 - 175 A.D.) Dupondius O:FAVSTINA AVG PII AVG FIL, Draped bust right. R: CONCORDIA/SC, Concordia seated left, holding a patera in right hand and a cornucopia in left hand. Rome 27.5mm 13.9g RCV 4724 RIC 1393
Nice coin. I hope you are sending all of the cross-over labels back to NGC for the sake of their population counts.
Okay, I can finally post this one.. Before anyone mentions the spots, I know but, this one was bought for the color alone. Lehigh even said "wow" when he first saw the color. It has that "Appalachian-esque color. Lime green and cotton candy pink", Lehigh's wording.
Filled the key dates in my Roosevelt book. Not that they're out of this world rare, but just to get them out of the way.
1913 Indian Head or Buffalo Nickel (Buffalo on the Mound). This Type 1 Buffalo Nickel graded PCGS MS65 and I just got the photo back from PCGS last week. This coin is just dripping with luster and those rainbow colors streaking through add some visual spark & interest.
I'll follow suit! Here's one I just picked up from GreatCollections. I was looking for a mid-lower range MS Barber for a decent price, and when I saw this one it just blew my mind. I had to sell a lot of stuff to be able to save up for this one! Placed a bid the day before it ended (@$126, not including BP), and seemed to be going to win it at that price until someone upped the price to $140. Arrgh...all in all, with BP and shipping the price comes out to around $160. In all honesty, when you see the color I think I got a steal anyways. The great thing about GC.com is that they make no mention of any type of toning...so it's relatively easy to cherry pick some beauties! Anyways...about the coin. The obverse has a really nice speckled rainbow toning -- turning from a green/blue to a mahogany red and dark yellow as you move across the fields. The reverse is the true stunner though! Deep sea blue turns to a sea foam green and golden yellow towards the rims...I've seen few greater Barbers with such smooth and attractive toning. Most Barbers with such deep toning have TOO much toning in some areas (i.e.: brown/black toning). This coin has virtually none of that. By the way...sorry about the rant. But considering that this coin cost almost 4x the amount of any other single purchase I've made in my entire collecting career, I felt it appropriate to write why I was willing to spend so much on it. I'll post some more pics when it comes in the mail! (Pics below by GC Photographer)
