I really like the pics on these Cazka! Great job capturing the color. Toned proofs can be brutal to image.
Recieved a 1964D Washington quarter in change today at the store from a $1.50 purchase. I ran for the door after noticing the silver quarter lol.
This is not a US coin, but it likely inspired the Walking Liberty Half design. It was designed by Louis-Oscar Roty (known typically as simply Oscar Roty) and is referred to as the "Sower". I have been reading the fantastic book by Roger Burdette titled "Renaissance of American Coinage: 1916-1921" and on page 36 this coin is mentioned. Incidentally, upon further reading on Mr. Roty, I found that I share the same birthdate (June 11) with him -- which made it all the more cool! I have wanted an example of this design for a few years, but I was patient because I knew they came with great color. This one finally fit the bill. I'm also adding a couple close-up images to show off some of the beautiful banded peripheral toning, and the name of the designer.
Very ironic. I love this design too and 2 months ago I wanted a high grade example in silver. My others were circulated copper/nickel. Its a beautiful design & I think its nicer then a Walking Lib.
eBay gives you a rebate(I guess it is a rebate, anyway) of 2% for everything you buy. Every quarter, you can then spent those monies.
