Latest ancient. This coin is special being that there isnt many examples of this particular reverse. The goddess is "Spes", the god of hope. None can be found on any online references nor is there very many photos of other examples online.

Due note the coin is rough due to having less then 20% silver in it, rest being bronze so many from this period are harsh, this is nice compared to most.

Poor kid died young either by plague or murdered, we dont know.

Finally found it...not much, just an old worn Walking Liberty.
Working on a 20 coin box (1916-1921), this one makes 7 so far.

Just hate to see you stuck with that worn out 1921. I'll take it off your hands for a newer one.

I have always wanted one of these, finally picked up a very nice one from Roman, the guru of 8 Reales.

Lehigh has been posting digital coin boards of Jefferson nickels for years.

My recent pickup, MS66 FH, CAC (Heritage photos). My first pickup of the year and, given my budget, it may be my last! There are a few confusing scratches on the holder, reverse.

Awful close to FH, wouldn't you say?! What an eye-catcher!

Sweeeeet newp, oval man! :hail: Almost makes me regret selling my mint-state SLQ... Although it wasn't nearly as nice as yours.

Oval, I assume it's in a FH holder? looks amazing! Great strike and luster.

Hahaha... You edited, oval man. Beat you to it w/ the FH statement, eh? Couldn't have seen that thing in a holder WITHOUT the designation, to be quite honest. ;)

Thanks and thanks for the reminder; it's FH and I've just edited. Not a 100% strike but pretty strong.

brg5658, I would love to see those ... do you have a link where I could view them? I am curious how his look. There are so many different ways to format these, and I would be curious how a great collector like Lehigh formatted these for his use. I ended up using a coin board width of 1100 pixels ... which is the "web optimized" size of TrueView photographs (a nice friendly web size).
Next was a choice of how many coins to place in each row ... So I just experimented a bit with what looked best. It's a trade-off between smaller to fit more coins on each row, but not so small that you lose the detail.

Here's a recent thread with a digital board type layout. http://www.cointalk.com/t208119/

I much prefer Lehigh's use of space, as there is a lot of dead space on yours.

brg5658, thanks for that link. Yes, interesting how Lehigh formatted that ... and I see what you mean about the wasted space (blackspace) on my version. It was my first try doing a virtual coin board (and did do some trial and error on what looked best to my eye before settling on this version that I posted). In some ways my job was easier than Lehighs since the Lincoln proofs are nicely cut up into various era's which are all about 7, 8, or 9 coins in size -- while Leigh was doing a virtual board for the entire Jefferson series which is a MUCH longer run with bigger total numbers of coins. I like what Lehigh did though, but I almost wish he had a bit more margin between each coin and that the coins were slightly bigger ... In any case, I think Lehigh did a great job! It's certainly a GREAT way to see an entire collection in one fell swoop.

I came across, somewhere and recently, another layout of Lehigh's nickels which sort of approximates a Dansco album. It was nice, and he may have been doing this for a while, but I don't think it diminishes WL's efforts. In fact, I believe I read that the very first person to create a digital coin album was Cyrus McCormick.

Having said that, I agree that, if you wanted to tinker with the layout some, Winged, you could lessen the amount of background a little. The black, while a very appropriate contrast to the copper, tends to overpower the coins a bit. Maybe make the coins 10-20% larger?
