Thanks, we only found three Classic head cents at the show ranging from roughly G6 to F12. I didn't see a huge difference between the three coins but did see a huge difference in price (over twice as expensive). I would normally go with the best I could afford but this was one time I was glad my son picked this coin.
1961 Lincoln Cent (Proof). I just got the grade and the TrueView photo back from PCGS late last week. I bought this monster from a collector on the PCGS "Buy, Sell, Trade" board for $25. It was in an NGC PF66RB slab. I had PCGS crack it out and submit it raw through their Secure Plus service, where it came back on Friday as PR67BN. This is my first experience with a PCGS upgrade of an NGC graded coin. Underneath the PCGS TrueView, posted below, are a couple of shots I made with my iPhone when the coin was still in the old NGC slab. The mirrors on this coin are so great, the coin almost looks wet and the color is just stunning.
Pretty much a jewel in any ancient collectors collection, Julius Caesar purchased here on CT at a very reasonable price couldnt pass up. Top photo is the seller photo, next photo is the coin busted out of the crummy slab.
Yeah, I need some serious changes to my coin photography setup. I have hit a brickwall on improving. I am working on a light diffusion setup with more powerful lights. The little LED task light dont seem to be powerful enough when diffused to get enough light on the coins. I'll post this 1885-O again when I have some improved pics.
This one here I got at my Credit Union yesterday someone put in the coin counter I seen it and got it for free
WOW! That is really awesome! That particular obverse is probably my favorite on any of Great Britain's coinage. What a cool thing to just get for free! I've had to pay for all my pennies from Great Britain!
Here's a NEWP that I recently got. It was a lot containing this, and a low grade 1916 Barber, Seated Dime, and a VF III Nickel Piece. Picked it up for $38 and now am able to take pictures of the Barber in all its lustrous glory.
WOW! I love it! I just missed out on a Morgan I wanted really bad. Site said it was "on hold", I even called and spoke to them to get on that waiting list (and I never call coinshops). I was checking the site like every 10 mins, and eventually "on hold" became SOLD. I am very bummed out, it was affordable and probably the best looking Morgan I've ever seen. But looking at your new pickup makes me happy, since I know there are other killer looking Mograns out there. Also, it helps me pass the time while I wait months...or years for another Morgan I want as much shows up.
Beautiful coin. Maybe this experience will partially quell your non-stop NGC negativity with regard to their "overgraded" coins?
1942 Mercury Dime 1943 BU War Nickel with Toning May have overpaid for the nickel, what do you guys think it's worth? Sorry for iffy pictures my photography setup is severely lacking for coins.
Bought for 3.50 today looks to be uncirculated came out of an album. Rainbow rim toning could not get the $3.50 out of my pocket fast enough...
Yeah, I was totally wrong previously. I can see how gorgeous that coin is in that picture. Nice eye appeal!
