@Race--nice coin! Great to see original Barbers that haven't been dipped or polished to make them look "allegedly better." Congrats on nearing the end of the series!
Thanks Dude. Yeah, the 92 S and 92 O in particular seem to be very hard to find in anything above VG and problem free.
They are tough dates, even though the mintage isn't all that low. I think it is that Barbers are very popular, and a lot of the "goodies" have been grabbed up over the years, like Liberty Seated halves.
A fantastic colorfully-toned Proof Jefferson that I bought raw off eBay for $10 about 6 weeks ago. Grade came back from PCGS last week as PR65.
I like the color on it, and there are a couple clean steps. With that said, I'm guessing somewhere in the AU55 area, there's just too much wear on the high spots to generate a higher grade. I might be way off base, we'll see what the other experts have to say. I like it though!
You should submit that one to Rick Snow at Eagle Eye to get his tag also put on it. That should increase the value even more.
Just won on Ebay although i dont know if thats such a good thing...:hail: http://www.ebay.com/itm/35056125037...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648#ht_500wt_1413
No idea what I was doing on this one. I did check the DD variety and it is the one listed in Redbook.. the expensive one in the Cherry pickers guide. Paid around 70-80 for it I think.... redbook says 350 in PR65... this one is nicely toned in 64. Good deal.. or nah... ?
Just one this one off eBay, same seller as before (greatsouthern). I'm excited! The strike is really weak, I think even for the 1857 but I LOVE the luster peeking out everywhere. It was quite a bargain, too!
I think for flying eagle's, that's a very good strike! Considering most have weaker ones on the rev..
I was playing around this evening trying to make a template Image file for NGC Graded Coins that looks a tiny bit different but still sort of coordinates with PCGS TrueView images. A black background PCGS TrueView photo is shown at bottom for comparison. Feedback is welcome.
If you are going to create such an analog, I would use NGC's actual branding emblem, not the Collector's Society motto. Also, Todd's pictures when I click on the full size version look blurry. Did you downsize the image? The certificate number text is also blurry (this can happen with non-integer resizing without using a subsequent unsharp mask). Cool concept, though I don't know why you would really care to do free advertising for NGC or PCGS -- when what we all really care about is the coin inside the plastic, right? PS -- both of those coins are insanely beautiful! :thumb:
Thanks brg ... Fixed!! The fonts are blurry because of the way Coin Talk degrades/compresses uploaded images. If you click on these images posted here, you will see what my image really looks like in its full glory and not compressed all to heck through the CT board compression algorithm. (I should post images this way all the time as the full sized versions are a lot crisper and clearer.)
