Interesting! As a fan of Eisenhower dollars, whether one agrees with cladding a clad, there is no arguing that they look pretty cool Thanks! -L
Ikes are my favorite, i couldn't tell you the anxiety i was experiencing when i was driving home from the Flea-Market. The 2x2s were dirty and scratched but they did what they were intended to do and i was so happy when i pulled them out.:hail:
These coins are proofs and i took the photo under my table lamp that is why they may have looked copper plated but they are not. Just my bad photos, I put copper clad because i didnt want everyone to think they were silver.
Just bought off ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330714836439?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Man, that '43 Winged Liberty is gorgeous! I hope to one day own a Merc dime in that stunning of condition. However, I can't get sidetracked: I need to stick to my WQD collection and finish that first.
I really wonder what was going through the engraver's mind when a mistake like this gets passed through?
I recently bought a new house and tonight was so nice i was relaxing on the back porch with my fiancee. I decided to see what i may find in my backyard with a metal detector. My fiancee was not thrilled with the idea and agreed that i could start with one hole. i dug carefully over a hot spot and 8 inchs down i found a 1917 liberty dime I nearly died i was thrilled... more holes tomorrow!!!
I thought this medal was interesting. For almost melt, it was all the more interesting You'll notice a horse-drawn carriage on the obverse -- thus my attraction.
