I seem to be going through a Standing Quarter phase. Seller was willing to deal on this one...so I added to a thin spot in my collection. Sellers pics.
The day started out like any other. As I feed the pets I detected a slight breeze in the air. I remembered today was the day I needed to visit the bank and pick up my box of halves to search. Later in the day I thought "maybe I should look at ebay". "Maybe today, after so many futile searches, maybe today." Low and behold there it was. One of my grails. Bidding was light...and I thought this is fortunate. I've gotta bid. Its the last one. I"ve been looking so so long. Don't overbid. But I've got to get this one, it may not come around again for a while. I held my breath as the clock ticked down. 3..2..1...You WON You are the successful bidder. Time took a brief pause it seemed. After about seven years of collecting I'd finally nailed the last one. I'll have it in hand in a few days (knock on wood). Naw, not really a major accomplishment but one that I was so looking forward to. A complete set of Kennedy Clad Proof 69 DCAM/UCAMs. Thanks for listening. And this is where it goes.
I haven't posted here in a while..... I have got many neat coins, but haven't got to posting them here. Thought I might show you all a decent 'bay pick. Goes to show, keep an eye out for varieties in graded holders. I might or might not resubmit it, we'll see. Got it for $60 free ship. These two feathers are fun, although not sure if I will collect them myself. Might sell it to fund my registry buffalo set, or my album BU indian head cent series.
Don't get me wrong. I like the coin a lot but isn't 60 bucks a little too much? 1919 Buffalo / Indian Head Nickel Coin Value Prices, Photos & Info (usacoinbook.com)
Your absolutely right, it is a lot of money for a VF-30. However, it is the 2 feather variety, which according to pcgs in that grade is about a $250 dollar coin. Granted, its the pcgs price guide which we all know to not be super accurate, but it gives you an idea. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1919-5c-2-feathers/520163
Thanks for the Info.! I didn't know there was this variety. That tells you how much I know about Buffalo Nickels.
Me too either. Ya just learn something new everyday. In the immortal words of Rosanne Rosannadanna "Its always sumpthin"
Picked up this half dime from an eBay vendor recently and he included the Ike as a gift. My photo, then the TruView, then the Ike.
Looks like Santa Claus jumped the gun a bit today. Just stumbled across 25 coins stored inside a tool chest that I inherited from my late father. I was looking for a particular screw so I opened the chest to locate it, and as I went through the chest, I pulled out a section that had these coins that totally floored me. Probably been in the chest for over 15 years. Right now, I do not have the time to post photos here. But here's a brief run down: Ike, JFK, King George V, King George VI, QEII (UK and Canada), King Juan Carlos (Spain), King Bhumibol (Thailand), German marks, French francs, etc. Sweet!
