Question on this piece??? Being struck thru grease...it would weigh the same as a mint state coin. If under weight?? That would be a tell tale sign of Post Mint Damage ( agree? )
This coin weighs 5.02 grams, so the weight is dead on. If the coin was under weight then I would be a suspicious. However, I’m not sure how a post mint damage “method” could replicate a the strike thru effect. I appreciate your question. ;-)
That has the most complete steps I have ever seen on an 83 Jefferson. Nearly 6FS. Of course the strike thru helped a bit.
I picked this last evening. An 1852 / inverted 2 U.S. 3 cent silver seller images. FS-3S-1852-301 [002] This variety was ... Last auction was 4/8/20 a VG -10 specimen sold at $720.00. Dan Brady discovered this variety in the mid 1990's. 28 years later less than a dozen graded between NGC,and PCGS.
Saw this ending tonight. Had a nice crusty complexion. Thought, I'll bid too! At the last second of course... She is mighty pretty. @Publius2 what can you tell me about it?
